Itshomi - An African PHP Development Framework

Introducing the Itshomi PHP Framework and website

Welcome, this is a website for PHP Developers with an emphasis on Itshomi, a Framework for PHP5 or later, under development, created by ALM Software Technologies. Whether you are learning PHP or about to start a new web application, this website and the Itshomi PHP Framework could be a helping hand. We hope our PHP Framework will be your allied and secret weapon to quickly create php web applications.

This website has been created using the Itshomi php framework version 0.5.1, and so, serves as an example of the Framework in action. It is powered by a MySql database, and uses Itshomi's MVC, components and template model, as well as 3rd party libraries.

Although documenting the Framework is work in progress at an early stage, the Learn link on your left has enough information to get you started.
Programming Goals of Itshomi, the PHP Framework

- Easy to use, yet powerful. It follows the MVC design pattern for separation of concerns and provides a fair amount of code generation.

- Promote good development practices. It follows the MVC and other design patterns. In Itshomi almost everything is a component, all components have a common ancestor class which provide some useful basic functionality to each component, and it is easy to instantiate and to create composites of components.

- Available for use in both Open Source and Commercial projects (LGPL License)

- Take advantage of, and provide functionality for, modern technologies such as AJAX and Web Services.

Social Goals of Itshomi, the website

- To make web and programming techniques, particularly creating web applications with php, easily understood and used by all, including economically disadvantaged individuals who might find challenging certain concepts because of a lack of proper education, and hence important gaps in their knowledge base.
